A Very Special Geocache

We took the boys up to Red Rock today for another round of geocaching. Today's trip was special. We placed a Travel Bug in one of the caches that is dedicated to Bryce's Aunt Jeanelle who passed away this morning. For those of you who don't know what a Travel Bug is it is a little metal plaque that is designed to be moved from cache to cache as you track its progress online. You can assign the Bugs goals such as; I hope this Travel Bug winds up in a cache in all fifty states. For "Jeanelle's Bug" we set the goal of winding up in New England so it can be there to see the leaves change in the fall. This was a dream trip for Jeanelle but unfortunately cancer took her away before she had a chance to go. This little bug is making the trip in her honor instead.
To track her Travel Bug go to geocaching.com and click on the "Trackable Items" link, where it says "Search for trackable item by name" type in "Jeanelle's Bug",this will allow you to watch its progress and read its stories.
Here's to Jeanelle, you will be missed.

Geocaching

Bryce got a handheld GPS for his birthday...
We took the boys out geocaching for most of the morning. Being the natural explorers that they are, they had a BLAST.
On our way to our first find:

Did you find something Sam?

Our first find...lots of loot. The rule is that you take something and leave something. We left mints and a slinky. We took a Nemo toy and an alien head eraser.

On the way back to the car...My almost 4 year old & I.

On the way to the next find:

Our second find, again lots of loot. We left 3 Chuck E. Cheese tokens and a toy Bass Pro Shop cooler with 20 cents. We took a rubber frog (Sam's choice) and ear plugs (Miles' s choice and yes, they were brand new, in the package).

By the way, anyone with kids, big or small, should definitely try geocaching. Even little Sammy had a great time!

Karate

Miles went to a Valentine's Party a few weeks ago at a karate center. A family from Miles' school owns a Martial Arts center and all of the kids that went to the party got a free month of classes. So far, he loves it. It is good exercise and great for self- control and following directions. Our once uncoordinated, budding scientist has turned into a well-coordinated kiddo. Plus, his buddies from school go, which he totally enjoys. I LOVE that when we walk in, his friends say "Miles is here. Hi Miles!"

Next up for our biggest, little guy...t-ball starts next month!
