A Great Day
Today was a great day. We got the best thing in the mail yesterday- the most amazing cream ever to treat nasty diaper rashes. Sam has been having a really hard time (and his bum has too). I ordered this cream that many families in the Hirschsprung's support group rave about. Now I see why. Within 24 hours, our little man's spirit has taken a different turn. He is not in pain and is finally getting back to himself. Instead of a day filled with Sam crying, today was a quiet (well as quiet as it can be with two energy-filled little boys) and so much more "normal" day. The boys had a nice little wagon trip around the neighborhood and park. Sam really does think that whenever the camera comes out, he has to "smile". I tried to get a picture with him actually smiling, but whenever I took the camera out, he made his face.

Home
Home is where we want to be right now. We are trying to help Sam stayed relaxed. The surgery, the hospital stay, the traveling, the "new" pooping has taken a toll on our tough guy. Slowly, but surely, life should be getting back to normal again soon...
He deserves about 100 of these for all he has been through.

Happily resting...

Food
After many grumpy, no food days, Sam was finally allowed to eat today. He started with juice and graham crackers. He then proceeded to his peanut butter and jelly ordered from Children's Room Service. This hospital is amazing. You should see everything Sam can order, any time he wants. Our boy is much happier and will hopefully be discharged tomorrow...earlier than we had expected. He is one tough guy.

Reunited
PICC Line
They took Sam's IV's out today and replaced them with a PICC line. He can get his nutrients, anti-biotics, and pain meds through this. Since he can't eat for at least 5 days, the PICC line will keep him going with calories...Bryce went with him to the room to get it. I didn't think I could handle it. Sam did great and got a certificate!

Cincinnati So Far
Resting at the hotel the afternoon before being admitted...
Being silly in bed...
Preparing for surgery...
Surgery is Over! We came to Cincinnati expecting a rough and painful recovery due to Sam having an incision below his belly button. Apparently, 1 out of 10 babies having a re-do of Sam's type of surgery do not need an incision and it is all done through the bum. Sam was one of the lucky 1 out of 10 kids. Just took this shot after we got back to the room following his surgery. He is resting well...
