I wanna be like Miles...

...and why wouldn't he?

The Space Nut

It all started with "Goodnight Moon". From the time he was a little guy, we read this book to him and he always wanted to hear it over and over again. We used to think that it was just a phase. Sooner or later (we thought), he would lose interest in the moon. But it actually turned into something much bigger (and better!) than we could have ever imagined. He is so absolutley, genuinely interested in the moon, the planets, the solar system, the Milky Way, whatever it is. We took him to the Planetarium today. As he was looking at the posters reciting the planets (in order, of course!) and referring to the poster of Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune as the poster of the "Gas Giants", the lady in the store dropped her jaw and asked how old he was. Yes, he'll be only 3 in a little over a month, but knows more about space than most adults. You can look around the house and know that a "space nut" lives here. The first pictures are my favorite...during February 2008's lunar eclipse.

Mr. Creative

Miles has the best imagination. Usually, it involves him going to the moon or a planet. Grandma Ellen found these great "tell me a story" robot cards and Miles is very good at using the pictures to tell stories. Tonight I wrote down his story for the cards below. This is how it goes...verbatim: "Schmool is falling down. The doggie flies through outer space. Schmool holds the doggie's tail. They fell in the Earth's crater. Then Schmool's daddy finds them. Schmool's daddy blasts off. He's completely shadow and I can't see him at all." My favorite picture is the orange, green, and brown painting. He made this for Sam before he was born and now it is hanging in Sam's room.

Bros

All is well until Miles takes Sam's toy away.

The Puzzle Monster

Miles had worked so hard on his planet puzzle and he even matched up all of the planets with his plastic planets. Then, along came his pesty little brother Sam.

The Curl

If he follows in Bryce, Miles, and I's footsteps, this is the first of many.

Happy Birthday!

It was Bryce and Grandpa's birthday this week. I took Miles to Color Me Mine while they were in Bangkok. He painted Grandpa a coffee mug and made Bryce a pencil holder for his desk at work. It was SUPPOSED to be a secret. Well, he spilled the beans with Grandpa when they were driving by the shopping center where Color Me Mine is. "There's Color Me Mine. That's where I made you a coffee mug Grandpa. But, shhhh, it's a surprise." Woops. He spilled the beans with Bryce a few days later. "I made you something for your pencils, but it's a secret." Because he was such a good boy painting at Color Me Mine, he picked out an inchworm to paint for himself. He painted the eyes blue because he has blue eyes.

Oldies, but goodies...

Yes. That's Jeff, Becky, Bryan, Rod, and I. Stole these from Becky's facebook page.

Boys

Looking around the house, it becomes very evident that these two boys live here.
