Two Long Months
I guess it's my turn to try my hand at adding to this here blog. Jenn has done all of the updates so far and I figured that I needed to start pulling my weight. I get the pleasure in my first post of announcing that our new boy is finally two months old! I'd be lying if I were to tell you the last sixty days have been easy...they haven't been. Between sitting in intensive care for twenty something days, trying to keep up with the Beans, and colon irrigations, we have had our hands full. I could go on and on about Jenn and I's problems but they pale in comparison to what our little boy has been going through. I can say from the bottom of my heart that even at his tender age, Sam Sam is a way better man than I. I couldn't be more proud of him, he has met the first challenges of his life with more determination and toughness than most adults that I know. The poor kid goes weeks without pooping or passing gas, has had major surgery that required organs being pulled through his butt, and gets violated daily with anal probes, all the while he has never so much as moaned. What a kid, with that degree of steadfastness at two months I can only imagine what the future has in store for him. That's good cause I hear it ain't easy getting through the first two years at Yale.
The Artist
Miles has become quite the artist lately.
Yes. He is still obsessed with the solar system.
He learned about twisters on a TV show.
He is really good at drawing circles.
He was painting and I had to change Sam in the other room. I came back and he had his paint-filled body on the couch with ALL of his paintbrushes.

FINALLY!!!
Today was a big day in the Barnhart house (although it actually happened at Grandma and Grandpa's house). I had gone to school to work on some stuff for my sub and I saw that Bryce was calling, it actually was Miles calling to tell me that Sam had pooped! After lots of doctors appointments involving us explaining that Sam had still not gone, lots of "irrigations" with Miles watching exclaiming "that was a good one", lots if worrying and wondering if it was ever really going to happen as his surgeons assured us it would, our little man did it on his own today. Sam is truly a fighter..from day one. He has seldom let much of anything bother him. And he has truly been put through quite a lot. He is a wonderful little thing with amazing strength and tolerance. He smiles constantly and is, surprisingly, almost always happy. He is also getting chubby- weighed in today at 10 lbs. 4 oz.!
